The Bieniasz Lab (Aging & Metabolism Research Program) is seeking a self-motivated, creative biologist to study changes in aging ovaries that predispose to ovarian cancer development. The successful candidate will perform various in vitro assays to study ovarian cancer phenotype, and in vivo studies using genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs), and patient-derived xenograft (PDXs) models to study ovarian cancer development, progression, spreading and response to novel therapies. She/he will be expected to present their data in lab meeting and present their work in seminars and poster presentations as appropriate.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to perform data analysis, prepare manuscripts, contribute to grant writing, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The candidate will be expected to troubleshoot scientific problems and modify experimental protocols when needed. She/he will also participate in various lab management responsibilities. The candidate will be expected to work independently with a high degree of skill under the guidance of the lab supervisor.

Job Requirements

Requires a Ph.D. in a biological science or a related field. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to write technical and scientific papers. Being organized, following detailed experimental protocols, maintaining precise records, and meeting deadlines is a must. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required. Proficiency in in vitro cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques is also necessary.
