Bioinformatics Research Technician in Metabolic Disease
Job Description
The Krishnan Lab is seeking a highly motivated individual for a full-time Research Technician to join the team. This lab is a part of the Gene and Human Disease Program at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
The Krishnan Lab studies metabolism of the evolutionary mutant model organism – blind cavefish – to better understand human metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. We use modern genomic methods like ATAC-seq, Hi-C, RNA-seq, metabolomics etc. to decipher the gene regulatory networks in these fishes.
Responsibilities
The position involves basic molecular biology experiments and NGS data analysis using R programming. An ideal candidate will have experience in one of both fields and be willing to learn other aspects of the job. OMRF has a close relationship with OUHSC and if needed, the candidate will be supported for a Ph.D. candidate position at the University.
Job Requirements
Candidates are required to have Bachelor’s degree typically in one of the biological sciences and/or equivalent years of relevant laboratory experience.
The individual is also expected to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
