Neuroendocrine Research Fellow in Brain Aging and Alzheimer's Disease
Job Description
The Ocañas Lab is interested in understanding how biological sex contributes to brain aging and Alzheimer's disease. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join the multidisciplinary Ocañas Laboratory within the Genes and Human Disease (GHD) Research Program at OMRF. The fellow will investigate how ovarian aging and altered endocrine signaling impacts neuroinflammation in the hippocampus.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will employ a wide range of techniques including the generation of novel mouse models, single-cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, flow cytometry, histology & pathological assessments, and a variety of other cellular & molecular biology techniques. The candidate will present their data regularly in laboratory meetings, local seminars and symposiums, and will have opportunities to present their work at national conferences. A requirement of the position is that the candidate must demonstrate ethical behavior at all times, a high-level of scientific rigor, and must be detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Requirements
-A PhD in neuroscience, reproductive biology, or related discipline
-Prior experience with molecular and cellular biological techniques
-At minimum, a basic knowledge of rodent handling and statistical procedures
-Computer skills and prior experience with data analysis
-Prior experience writing manuscripts and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
-Prior experience, or a willingness, to mentor graduate students and/or laboratory technicians
